Step Back Into the Civil War!
Experience the Civil War as never before through the voice of a veteran who lived it. A soldier of Company F, 124th New York State Volunteers—known as the Orange Blossoms—returns to share his memories of war, camp life, and brotherhood. Blending authentic firsthand accounts with vivid storytelling, this immersive program transports audiences from the quiet routines of camp to the thunder of the battlefield.
Michael has two different programs based upon the same material, but presented in very different ways. Program A rolled out in the fall of 2025 and has met with great success and praise. Program B is set to debut this year.
Program A: Local author and historian Michael J. Worden presents this original Civil War program in character as a veteran of the 124th, reflecting years after the war as he prepares to return to Gettysburg for the dedication of the regiment’s monument.
Program B: Local author and historian Michael J. Worden presents this original Civil War program in character as a veteran of the 124th, home on leave in the midst of the Civil War and fresh from intense engagements, including Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. This new version you don’t want to miss!@
Researched and written in collaboration with author and historian Linda Zimmermann, the presentation offers a deeply personal and historically grounded perspective on the soldier’s experience.
